Court extends arrest of Anzor Gubashev until August 28

The Basmanny District Court of Moscow has granted the motion of the investigating authorities and extended the arrest of Anzor Gubashev, a defendant in the case of the murder of Boris Nemtsov, for four months, until August 28.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 18, the Basmanny District Court scheduled for April 22 the consideration of the extension of the arrests of Anzor Gubashev and Khamzat Bakhaev, accused of involvement in the murder of politician Boris Nemtsov.

In the courtroom, Anzor Gubashev pleaded not guilty and not involved in the murder of Boris Nemtsov. His defender Arkady Ostapchuk asked the Court to announce the pre-trial restriction measure not involving deprivation of liberty.

According to the Court's resolution, "the need for pre-trial restriction measure in the form of detention in custody is still reasonable, and it is not possible to mitigate it," the "TASS" reports.

According to the investigator, in the case if the pre-trial restriction measure is mitigated, Anzor Gubashev may attempt to escape, threaten witnesses and victims, destroy the evidence and reach an agreement with his yet unidentified accomplices, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
