Shelling in Karabakh conflict zone results in casualties and victims
The Ministries of Defence (MoDs) of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) and Azerbaijan report about victims on the troops' contact line. According to different sources, from one to five persons were killed; and some others were wounded.
In the morning on Tuesday, April 21, Azerbaijani armed forces attempted a sabotage action in the north-eastern direction (Seysullan), the press service of the MoD of the NKR has reported.
"The advanced troops of the Defence Army have timely noticed the enemy; they organized an all-round defence and forced the Azerbaijani subversive group to retreat," the above press service told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
According to the NKR's MoD, Azerbaijani servicemen retreated and "left plenty of ammunition in the battlefield, as well as, according to preliminary data, one Azerbaijani soldier was killed; another one was wounded." Karabakh militaries suffered no losses.
On the other hand, according to the MoD of Azerbaijan, on April 21, Azerbaijani armed forces killed, in the course of a battle with the Armenian troops on the Terter direction, five Armenian soldiers and wounded up to 10 others. The Azerbaijani party suffered no losses, the "Interfax" reports.
The parties refute each other's statements. In particular, the MoD of the NKR has treated the opponent's statement about the sabotage action as "a naive attempt to conceal their own losses," the "News.am" reports.
