Dagestani resident detained on suspicion of shelling policeman's car

The police detained a resident of Dagestan, suspected of shelling a car with a senior officer of the Karabudakhkent ROVD (District Interior Division) of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

According to investigators, on March 6, in the village of Manaskent of the Karabudakhkent District, unidentified people from VAZ-2114 car shelled from automatic weapons a Lada Priora car, which transported a senior officer of the local ROVD of the Russian MIA to his work. As a result, policemen and civilians were not injured.

Investigators have instituted a criminal case under articles of attempt on the life of a law enforcer, wilful damage to other people's property, and arms trafficking.

On April 8, the police managed to detain a suspected local resident. According to the investigators, he confessed to the attack on the car with the senior police officer and to a number of other serious crimes committed together with other members of the criminal grouping "Makhachkala".

The pre-trial restriction measure against the detainee was chosen in the form of detention, the website of the Investigating Department for Dagestan of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).
