Dagestani SC acquits Ibragim Askhabaliev

The Supreme Court (SC) of Dagestan has acquitted Ibragim Askhabaliev, a resident of the Khasavyurt District, a defendant in the case of murder, involvement in an illegal armed formation (IAF) and illegal possession of weapons.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 3, Ibragim Askhabaliev was acquitted by the decision of the jury.

In late September of 2013, Ibragim Askhabaliev, born in 1982, was detained in the village of Mutsalaul of the Khasavyurt District of Dagestan on suspicion of murder, involvement in an illegal armed formation (IAF), and illegal possession of weapons. According to investigators, in June 2013, Ibragim Askhabaliev "received an order from the IAF leader and murdered a local resident, who, according to the IAF members, collaborated with the police."

According to Israfil Gadadov, an advocate of the defendant, public prosecutors announced their intention "to send the case for a new investigation" in order to "identify the offender.
