Magomed Tochiev sentenced to seven months of imprisonment for incident near Historic Mosque in Moscow
The Zamoskvorechye District Court of Moscow has announced a verdict of guilty against Magomed Tochiev, a native of Ingushetia, who was charged with using violence against an OMON (riot police) fighter during the incident with mosque-goers near the Historic Mosque.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that during the debates, the public prosecutor asked to sentence Magomed Tochiev to two years of imprisonment in a penal settlement-colony. Magomed Tochiev insists on his innocence. In his final speech, he claimed being pressured by the investigators.
On September 26, 2014, in Moscow, near the mosque on Bolshaya Tatarskaya Street, OMON fighters detained a mosque-goer suspected of involvement in an insignificant road traffic accident. Muslims blocked an OMON bus and forced the OMON fighters to release the detainee. After the incident, Adam Oskanov and Magomed Tochiev were detained.
According to the investigators, Magomed Tochiev tore off a sleeve of an OMON fighter's uniform during the riots.
Magomed Tochiev is to serve his sentence in a penal settlement-colony. Taking into account the period already served by him during the pre-trial investigation, Magomed Tochiev is to spend 20 days in a penal settlement-colony.
Let us remind you that Adam Oskanov, another person involved in the case, pleaded guilty, and in December 2014, he was sentenced to one year of imprisonment in a penal settlement-colony.
