Yerevan Mayoralty refuses to sanction rally of "Founding Parliament"
The Yerevan Mayoralty has refuses to sanction the rally of the opposition movement scheduled for April 26. Members of the "Founding Parliament" treat the decision as unlawful.
The "Founding Parliament" (the formerly "Pre-Parliament", note of the "Caucasian Knot") intends to challenge the decision of the Yerevan Mayoralty to refuse to take in account the notification about the rally, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been told by Varuzhan Avetisyan, the Deputy Chairman of the movement.
According to Varuzhan Avetisyan, the city authorities have refused to sanction the rally at Freedom Square and offered to hold the rally at the square near the "Erebuni" museum. Varuzhan Avetisyan believes that no legal foundations were presented for that step: according to him, the Mayoralty stated that some events were scheduled in the territory of the small centre of Yerevan, including Freedom Square.
"By refusing to sanction the rally on April 26 and imposing restrictions on the route of the march to be held after the rally, the Mayoralty has violated the law," the activist has stated.
