On March 23-29, at least 2 persons fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus
During the week of March 23-29, 2015, at least 2 persons fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. No wounded were reported. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.
All the killed persons were suspected members of the armed underground in Dagestan.
Attacks on law enforcers
On March 25, at about 9:00 p.m. Moscow time, a police patrol was attacked by armed persons in Makhmudov Street on the outskirts of Khasavyurt. Policemen conducted operational and search activities, when they were shelled while they tried to check the documents for a Lada Priora car. One of the attackers was killed at the place by return fire. The second attacker was brought to hospital with a gunshot wound, and he died there. No law enforcer suffered in the incident. The killed persons have been preliminary identified as Murad Mikhralov, born in 1987, and Shamkhal Salatkhanov, born in 1994, members of a terrorist grouping. The policemen found inside the car of the killed men a traumatic pistol converted for firing with live ammunition, an RGO grenade with a fuse, and two backpacks with uniforms.
Special and counterterrorist operations
On March 24, at 4:00 a.m. Moscow time, regime of counterterrorist operation (CTO) was introduced on the territory of the Tsumadin District of Dagestan. Within the CTO regime, special operations were carried out in the village Kvanada and its surroundings, where law enforcers conducted selected inspections. Policemen carried out searches in several houses; however, they found nothing illegal. No one was detained. In the course of the special operation, an empty barn was set on fire in one of the farm yards. At 7:00 p.m. of the same day, the CTO regime in the Tsumadin District was cancelled. No information on the results of the special operation is available.
Detentions
On March 28, during the inspection of a house in the Ingush village of Ali-Yurt, where a 64-year-old man lived, policemen found and seized from the local resident a pistol and ammunition for it. A criminal case was instituted under Article 222 (illegal possession of firearms and ammunition) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
Disappearances
In the afternoon of March 20, Muslim Bakhmudov, a resident of the village of the Tatlyar of the Derbent District of Dagestan, went to visit his sisters in Makhachkala. He has visited his sister, who lives not far from the North bus station. Then, he went to visit his second sister; however, he never appeared at her place. Since then, no more information about his whereabouts is available. On March 23, one of the Muslim Bakhmudov's sisters was visited by a stranger, who told her that Muslim was being kept at the Kirov ROVD (District Interior Division). However, when his relatives came to the Kirov ROVD, they were told that Muslim Bakhmudov was not there. The information on the incident was reported on March 27.
