Court leaves Murad Nurmagomedov in custody

The custody of Murad Nurmagomedov, the author of the critical video about celebrating the New Year, has been extended for another month.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Murad Nurmagomedov was detained on December 31, 2014; and, according to investigators, some ammunition was found on him. His wife is sure that the ammunition was planted.

The extension of Nurmagomedov's custody was decided on Friday by the Sovietskiy District Court of Makhachkala. The investigation insisted that Nurmagomedov should be held in custody, said Nailya Dalgatova.

The court granted the investigation's motion and extended Nurmagomedov's arrest until April 26.

Nurmagomedov is the author of the video clip " Dagestanis' Attitude to New Year", which was posted on the YouTube hosting back on December 31, 2011, and showing the calls to Muslims expressed by Dagestani media people, athletes, community and religious leaders not to celebrate the New Year. At the moment, the video has gained more than 169,000 viewings.
