Dagestani Ombudsperson asks to provide urgent surgical treatment to inmate of Khasavyurt SIZO

An inmate of the SIZO (pre-trial prison) No. 3 of Khasavyurt needs an urgent surgery. This was reported by Ummupazil Omarova, the Ombudsperson for Dagestan, to the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service (known as FSIN) after her visit to the SIZO.

The purpose of her visit was to check the appeal of the Ombudsman to the Chechen Republic to assist in hospitalization of SIZO inmate T. and prosecute policemen, who used firearms. This was reported by the Ombudsman's Office of Dagestan.

According to a staff member of the Ombudsman's Office, a conversation with the SIZO inmate and examination of medical records showed that he needed an emergency surgery. Ummupazil Omarova has appealed to the leaders of the FSIN Department for Dagestan with the request to provide urgent surgical treatment to the SIZO inmate, the website of the Dagestani FSIN reports.

According to the Ombudsman's Office, no violations of the detention of the arrested persons have been identified, and complaints were filed by SIZO inmates. Meanwhile, the SIZO building needs repair of some internal premises, the RIA "Dagestan" reports.
