Court finds Dagestani resident guilty of aiding and abetting militants

The Khasavyurt City Court has sentenced Sabir Ibragimov, a local resident, to two years and six months of imprisonment on charges of aiding and abetting illegal armed formations (IAFs). This was reported by the website of the Prosecutor's Office of Dagestan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Sabir Ibragimov, born in 1988, was detained in Khasavyurt on December 27, 2014. On December 28, it became known that he was being kept in a local temporary detention facility. The Investigating Division of the Khasavyurt GOVD (City Interior Division) has reported that Sabir Ibragimov is suspected of aiding and abetting IAFs.

The Court has found out that in 2004, Sabir Ibragimov illegally purchased a Kalashnikov submachine gun suitable for firing, 102 rounds, and an RGD-5 grenade with a fuse. In December 2014, he gave the weapons to a member of IAF acting in the city of Khasavyurt, who was wanted for committing grave and especially grave crimes.

According to the Court, with the aim to assist the activities of militants, Sabir Ibragimov transported in his car one of IAF members with weapons and ammunition.
