Chechen resident accused of aiding and abetting militants
In Chechnya, the case against Vizir Zaurbekov, a resident of the Shatoy District, accused of aiding and abetting members of illegal armed formations (IAFs) has been submitted to the court.
According to prosecutors, in January 2015, Vizir Zaurbekov aided a member of IAF and bought food for him.
Vizir Zaurbekov has been charged with aiding and abetting a member of an IAF (Part 5 of Article 33, Part 2 of Article 208 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Sanctions under those Articles provide up to 10 years of imprisonment. This was reported by the website of the Chechen Prosecutor's Office on March 18.
The case with the approved indictment has been sent to the Shatoy District Court for consideration on the merits. According to the Chechen Prosecutor's Office, the defendant is in custody by the court's decision.
