Volgograd hosts rally against political repressions
In the Krasnooktiabrskiy District of Volgograd, nationalists held a rally demanding to abolish articles of the Criminal Code, which, according to them, could be used for political persecution.
The action was sanctioned by the authorities. It was attended mostly by young people, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Mikhail Yasin-Panin, the head of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "ROD".
According to him, the participants of the rally demanded to abolish Article 282 (incitement of hatred or hostility, and humiliation of human dignity) and Article 280 (public calls for extremist activity) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
"The protesters do not unfold any banners. They hold imperial flags instead," Mikhail Yasin-Panin has noted. And he continues: "They demand to abolish Articles 282 and 280, and they give examples of unlawful conviction under those Articles. One of the speakers raised the issue of incitement to ethnic hatred in federal mass media."
"It's an all-Russian campaign, and it took place in about 50 cities of Russia," the source has noted.
