Consideration of terror act case in Pyatigorsk on the merits scheduled for March 24
Following the outcomes of the preliminary hearing of the criminal case on the terror act in Pyatigorsk in 2013, the first session on the merits will take place on March 24.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 27, 2013, a car was blown up near the building of the GIBDD (traffic police) in Pyatigorsk. The explosion was recognized as a terror act; it killed three bystanders. On January 10, 2014, the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) reported that following persons had been detained in connection with the terror act: Murad Ataev, Ramazan Khalizov, Vladimir Khalizov, Shamil Abdulazizov, Shamil Gazimagomedov and Magomed Ibragimov.
On Thursday, March 12, the Pyatigorsk Garrison Military Court held the preliminary hearing.
According to investigators, the defendants were members of the grouping named "Khasavyurt sector", a part of the terrorist community "Vilayat Dagestan". The organizer of the terror act is considered to be Tural Ataev, who was killed on March 25, 2014, during a special operation in the Dagestan village of Pervomaiskoe.
