Armenian General Prosecutor agrees to meet relatives of Avetisyan family
Gevorg Kostanyan, the General Prosecutor of Armenia, has agreed to meet on March 13 relatives of the Avetisyan family shot and killed in Gyumri.
On February 26, successors of the Avetisyan family sent a letter to the General Prosecutor of Armenia asking to meet them and listen to their position on the case of the murder in Gyumri. The relatives of the Avetisyan family complain about the lack of information on the case.
According to advocate Yerem Sargsyan, the relatives and the public should be informed of the reason for the murder.
The advocate has also commented on the information that the Russian General Prosecutor's Office has dismissed the appeal filed by Zarui Postandjyan, the deputy of the National Assembly of Armenia, to extradited regular soldier Valery Permyakov.
Yerem Sargsyan claims that the agreement on the military base in Gyumri signed between the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation provides cases when a person who commits a crime "is to be under the jurisdiction of Armenia."
"In accordance with the agreement, the Russian side is to extradite the criminal to the Armenian law enforcement agencies to solve the question of criminal responsibility," Yerem Sargsyan has stated.
