Man killed in attacking policemen in Dagestan identified

The man who shelled a police car in the Babayurt District of Dagestan, and who was killed by return fire, has been identified as Eldar Khaidarbekov, 42, a native of the Khasavyurt District.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the morning on March 2, in the vicinity of the village of Khamamatyurt in the Babayurt District, an unidentified person shelled a police outfit and was killed by return fire. Policemen did not suffer; they found a pistol on the casualty; a VAZ-21010 car was found near the place of the shootout.

The killed man was identified as Eldar Khaidarbekov, born in 1973, said the Investigating Department (ID) for Dagestan of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).

"He was born in the Khasavyurt District, but recently he lived in the Babayurt District. He was not officially wanted, but under the operative data he was an accomplice of the 'Babayurt' grouping, which operated not only here, but also in the neighbouring Khasavyurt District," Rasul Temirbekov, a Senior Assistant to the head of the above ID of the ICRF, told the "Caucasian Knot " correspondent.
