Azerbaijani opposition condemn Nemtsov's murder
In Azerbaijan, oppositional activists and experts have condemned the murder of the prominent Russian politician Boris Nemtsov, stating that his death is "a blow to democratic forces not only in Russia, but throughout the world."
"This cowardly murder is a blow to all democratic forces, and not only in Russia," said Djamil Gasanli, the leader of the National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF) of Azerbaijan. He called Nemtsov "one of the most prominent democrats of today's Russia."
The "Musavat" Party has also strongly condemned the killing of Nemtsov.
Arastun Orudjlu, the head of the "East-West" Research Centre, has treated as insincere the statement of Russian President Vladimir Putin that the Nemtsov's murder was customized and provocative. He drew a parallel of the murder of Nemtsov with the murder of the Azerbaijani journalist Elmar Guseinov, committed 10 years ago.
One of the bloggers of the "Caucasian Knot" believes that the version of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) that Nemtsov's murder was linked with the French satirical magazine and Islamists. "Nemtsov couldn't be a dangerous figure for Islamists, just because he was not in power and didn't speak much on the subject of religion," writes the author of the blog "Wind from Apsheron" in his post "Murder of Nemtsov has only one version."
"I see a logically slim version of direct involvement of some Russian state security service, no matter which one, in the murder," writes the blogger. In his opinion, the reason for the murder could be in the report prepared by Nemtsov about the war in Ukraine.
