34 Ukrainian resettlers arrive in Stavropol from Rostov-on-Don
A group of forced migrants from the eastern regions of Ukraine have come to Stavropol from Rostov-on-Don. In just the recent two weeks, the region has accommodated 140 refugees.
As reported by Oleg Degtiaryov, the head of the press service of the Department of the Russian Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) for the Stavropol Territory, the refugees were placed into the boarding house in the village of Solnechnodolsk, Izobilnensky District of the Territory, the "Interfax" reports.
The Territory expects to receive the next group of refugees on February 28.
Residents of Ukraine began arriving en masse in Russia in May-June 2014, after Ukrainian power agents launched their antiterrorist operation (ATO) in the Lugansk and Donetsk Regions. After the signing of the September Minsk Armistice Agreements, refugees began returning home; and field camps were abolished. However, in December 2014 the situation in the conflict zone aggravated; and residents of Donbas again began leaving their homeland.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that most of refugees arrive in the Rostov Region. On January 29, Sergey Ivanov, the head of the Kremlin administration, asked governors of Russian regions to help the Rostov Region, which faced a new wave of refugees.
