In Georgia, three opposition parties start protests demanding government's resignation

The leaders of the opposition "Free Georgia", "Christian-Democratic Movement" and "Reformers" Parties have announced holding protests starting from February 26 and demanding the resignation of the government.

Earlier, on Wednesday, Tbilisi hosted a protest action demanding the resignation of the government. It was attended by members of several NGOs, including NGOS "Free Zone" and "Fair Generation."

Over the past several days, the Georgian currency has depreciated against US dollar by at least 20 percentage points. On February 25, the exchange rate of Georgian lari to US dollar reached 2.26.

"We believe that such a situation is to launch the process of the resignation of the government, and this process is to begin with the resignation of Nodar Khaduri, the Minister of Finance," said Alexander Shalamberidze, the General Secretary of the "Free Georgia" Party.

According to Vakhtang Gabuniya, the Regional Secretary of the "Christian-Democratic Movement" Party, the difficult situation in the country is created by two factors: either by complete incompetence of the government or by an act aimed at the bankruptcy of the country.

Organizers of the protest actions have stated that they exclude any constructive dialogue with the authorities and that they are going to use only drastic measures.

Earlier, the oppositionists have stated that the depreciation of the Georgian lari is the result of "wrong economic policy" of the Georgian authorities, the "News-Georgia" reports.
