Serviceman of Russian military base in Gyumri disappears

Arthur Afyan, a contract soldier of the 102nd Russian military base in Gyumri, has disappeared. His whereabouts cannot be established for the third day already.

In the morning on February 21, the 26-year-old Afyan, when talking on the phone with his wife, said that he was leaving their rented house in Gyumri. Arthur was going to visit his wife in the village of Marmashen, where the house of her parents is located.

After Afyan stopped responding to calls, the wife turned to the police. Afyan is taking his military service at the Russian military base under a contract basis, writes, the edition "lragir.am" writes citing Ashot Egoyan, the head of Marmashen.

As of Monday morning, Afyan was still not found, the "News.am" reported quoting the press service of the Armenian Police.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 12, in Gyumri, six members of the Avetisyan family were assassinated. The only survivor of the attack – the six-month-old Sergey Avetisyan – was hospitalized in critical condition and on January 19, he died. A Russian regular soldier Valery Permyakov was arrested as a suspect of committing the massacre. According to investigators, Permyakov committed the massacre while trying to escape from the military base.
