Gadjimurad Omarov leaves Dagestan after beating
Gadjimurad Omarov, the chairman of the regional branch of the "Spravedlivaya Rossiya" (Fair Russia) Party, who was attacked and beaten in Dagestan has left for Moscow via Chechnya.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Omarov was beaten up on February 21 in Makhachkala after the reporting-election conference of his regional branch. After beating, he was hospitalized, said one of party activists.
According to Omarov, after the incident, he decided to go to Moscow for treatment; he added that none of the 30 policemen present at the incident tried to stop the attackers. He noted that he "would lodge complaints about his beating", but he "did not believe in any effect thereof," says the website of the "Moscow Speaking" Radio.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Dagestan asserts that nobody has ever turned to them with an application after the incident.
Milrad Fatullaev, the editor-in-chief of the Dagestani edition "Nastoyaschee Vremya" (Present Time), has posted Omarov's video appeal on his Facebook.
