Court in Grozny restricts access to 85 "VKontakte" web pages

The Leninsky District Court of Grozny has satisfied the lawsuit lodged by the Prosecutor's Office of Chechnya demanding to restrict access to 85 pages of the social network "VKontakte", because they posted extremist materials and caricatures on Prophet Muhammad.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Chechen Prosecutor's Office filed the above lawsuit on January 26. The materials posted on these pages included caricatures from the French satirical magazine "Charlie Hebdo", the editorial office of which was attacked on January 7; and 12 persons were killed.

The court satisfied the above lawsuit yesterday, on February 17, a source from the Prosecutor's Office told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

He noted that the court's decision to block access to the above "VKontakte" web pages is the basis for the Internet providers working in Chechnya to take respective actions.
