Illegal methods cannot be used against militants' families, said head of Ingushetia
Today, the conference hall of the National Broadcasting Company "Ingushetia" hosted the concluding annual press conference of Yunus-Bek Evkurov, where the head of the republic has summed up the year.
He said at the very start that one of the most important achievements of Ingushetia in 2014 was the achievement of one of the lowest crime rates in the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD).
"According to statistics, in recent years we occupy the 2nd-3rd place in the NCFD – and this is a very good indicator," said Yunus-Bek Evkurov.
According to the statistics run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own data and information from open sources, in 2012, Ingushetia had at least 167 victims of the armed conflict; and in 2013 – at least 94 victims. During 11 months of this year, 32 persons fell victim to the conflict in Ingushetia. As of this period, the first place by the total number of victims belongs to Dagestan (280 people); the runner-up is Kabardino-Balkaria (59 people), Ingushetia ranks the third. Let us note here that this statistics is for January-November; and the victims of the attack on Grozny on December 4 are not included.
Mr Evkurov has noted that the reduction of the crime rate was achieved mainly through the active preventive work with the population, including the members of the Security Council and the Adaptation Commission. In his answer to the question of the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, whether he thinks the persecution of militants' relatives is necessary and effective in combating the underground, Yunus-Bek Evkurov stressed that "no illegal persecution methods" should be used against militants' families.
