After searches in Dagestani village of Bayram Magomed Sulaev was detained

Law enforcement officers conducted searches of houses in the village of Bayram, Khasavyurt District, and detained a local resident Magomed Sulaev. Earlier Sulaev reported being subjected to torture by the police. During the day his relatives could not locate him, said the lawyer Sapiyat Magomedova.

"On December 24, at about 7:00 a.m., policemen surrounded the house and ordered everyone to get out of it. Nothing was found or confiscated during a search; however, no search protocol was presented; and the reason for the search was not reported. Policemen took away my husband, who by that time was returning home from the mosque; they put him into a white jeep and drove away," Patimat Magomedova, Magomed's wife, told the "Caucasian knot" correspondent.

According to her story, in the afternoon on December 24 relatives turned to the Khasavyurt ROVD (District Interior Division), but the on duty officer told them that Sulaev was not among the detainees.

His wife Patimat has also submitted her application to the public prosecutor of the city of Khasavyurt, in which she narrated the circumstances of the incident, asked about the whereabouts of her husband and specified the reason for his detention," the lawyer Sapiyat Magomedova, who is representing Magomed Sulaev's interests, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The lawyer has added that as of late in the evening on December 24 there was no response to the above applications; and the whereabouts of Magomed Sulaev was still unknown.
