Residents of Grozny massively cash out money from their bank accounts
In the past two days, residents of Chechnya have been massively withdrawing funds from their bank accounts. The reason was in the rumours circulating among people about the upcoming freezing of accounts and credit cards due to a sharp depreciation of the rouble. Bankers think that the panic is unjustified.
On December 17, residents of the Chechen capital stood in lines at ATMs (automatic teller machines). Many ATMs ran out of money already in the afternoon, a citizen Vadud Sh. told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. However, according to his story, in the evening the situation gradually normalized.
Banks of the Chechen capital keep asserting that there is no reason to panic.
"Indeed, in the morning our ATMs run out of money, because there was a huge buzz, people succumbed to panic and rushed to cash out their funds. But in the afternoon we received more cash and replenished our ATMs, after which clients could freely withdraw them," said Amina, an employee of the "Russian Agricultural Bank".
Let us remind you that in the first half of December residents of Chechnya reported a significant increase in foodstuff prices, including bread.
