Gimry Tunnel opened for traffic in Dagestan
On Monday, the Untsukul District of Dagestan opened the traffic through the Gimry Tunnel, local residents report.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Gimry Tunnel, which connects the village of Gimry with Buynaksk and Makhachkala, was closed on September 18 in connection with the blocking by power agents of the settlement of Vremenny. It had been planned to reopen the tunnel on September 23; then, the opening date was repeatedly rescheduled.
"This is a great event that makes life easier for local residents; not only those who travel to work in cities in the lowland, but also improves transport links with the mountainous regions of Dagestan," said a local resident Magomedrasul Magomedov.
The administration of the Untsukul District has confirmed the information about the opening of the Gimry Tunnel and the lifting of the CTO regime.
