Branch of public organization "Children of War" set up in Sochi

A meeting was held in Sochi and decided to launch a local branch of the organization "Children of War". Its members passed an appeal to the authorities of the Krasnodar Territory asking to provide social benefits from the budget to those who were born in the period from June 23, 1928, to September 3, 1945.

"The initiative to set up a branch of the 'Children of War' belongs to the Sochi city committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF). Officially, the social status of 'children of war' hasn't yet been approved at the federal level. However, 19 regions of Russia have already established such organizations," Igor Vasiliev, the leader of the above CPRF committee, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, adding that in many regions "children of war" receive social benefits, and Sochi "should not be an exception."

The constituent meeting took place on April 10 in the administration building of the Tsentralny District of Sochi and was attended by about 300 people.

The audience suggested, in particular, funding from the budget of their free travels by the urban and suburban public transport, 50% deductions in paying utility bills and buying drugs and a surplus of 1000 roubles to their pensions.
