Advocates in Politkovskaya's murder case demand judge disqualification
The Moscow City Court holds hearings in the case of the murder of Anna Politkovskaya, an observer of the newspaper "Novaya Gazeta". During the presentation of defence evidence, the advocates of the defendants twice demanded to disqualify the judge. Judge Pavel Melekhin, who chaired the court hearing, dismissed both motions filed by the advocates, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
Let us remind you that at the court hearing held on April 7, the defendants refused to testify, despite the fact that earlier, they announced their intentions to tell the court their version of the events. In this regard, the defence advocates filed a motion to disclose the records of the court hearing at the Moscow District Military Court.
The very defendants again refused to testify.
Jurors left the courtroom under the cries of the advocates who claimed that the Judge prevented them from submitting the evidence. In response, the prosecutors have pointed out that the advocates break the law when they repeat the already considered documents.
