Witnesses in the case of "Don Women's Union" refute prosecutors' arguments, lawyers say
The defence of the public organization "Don Women's Union" has denied in the court the prosecutors' claims on recognizing the organization as a foreign agent, said the defence lawyers. According to their version, three witnesses were questioned at the session on April 7.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 7 the Novocherkassk City Court questioned the head of the "Don Women's Union" Valentina Cherevatenko. The next session was scheduled for April 16.
The April 7 session was devoted to the satisfaction of defence's motions about the episode associated with the convict Solntsev, as the lawyer Elena Pershakova, the head of the legal department of the organization named "Public Verdict", explained to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
According to Furkat Tishaev, an expert of the HRC "Memorial", originally the episode with the convict Solntsev was not supposed to appear as a prosecutor's claim, since there was no evidence in this regard.
He added that the prosecutor's office presents five episodes as a confirmation of the political activities of the "Don Women's Union". Prosecutors believe that holding roundtables on reforming the MIA was a political activity.
