Action in support of Shant Arutyunyan's son in Yerevan ended in detentions
Yerevan hosted a rally in support of the minor son of the leader of the "Tsegakron" Party Shant Arutyunyan, who is suspected of hooliganism. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports that two protesters were brought to the police station.
Policemen detained Argishty Kiviryan, the coordinator of the "Armenia Today" News Agency, and the activist Vardges Gaspari.
Mr Kiviryan told reporters that together with Gaspari he stood in front of the General Prosecutor's Office, when policemen forced them from the pavement onto the roadway, saying that they have no right to stay near the building. "I demanded that the police stop lawlessness. As an Armenian citizen I have the right to be anywhere, if not prohibited by the law. The police gave no explanations; forced them into the car and brought to the police station," said Kiviryan.
He did not specify the presented accusations.
