Yerevan protesters demand change of power in Armenia
A march to mark the International Human Rights Day was held today in Yerevan. Its participants have stated widespread violations of human rights in Armenia and demanded to change the country's ruling regime.
The march was organized by the "Armenian National Congress" (ANC) Party. The march was supported by the group of Grant Arutyunyan, who organized the "Million Mask March" on November 5, the initiative groups "Free Monument from Oligarch", "Against Increase of Transport Tariffs" and others.
Several thousands of people have marched with flags and banners from Freedom Square along central streets of Yerevan towards the office of the European Union (EU). They chanted "Free and independent Armenia!", "Come out to the streets!", "We are owners of our country!" and "Serzh, go away!", the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
The marchers have handed over a letter addressed to the Secretary of the Council of Europe, citing a series of "systematic human rights violations in Armenia", for example, violations of the electoral law, the massive use of administrative resources during elections, and obstructing to change of power.
