MIA of KChR: main suspect detained in the case of 350-million theft
The woman, who headed the Department of Labour and Social Development of the Malokarachay District, suspected of embezzling more than 348 million roubles from the budget as a member of an organized criminal grouping, was detained in the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR).
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 30, the police announced the detection of a theft of over 348 million roubles, committed in the Malokarachay district administration. The money was intended to pay for housing and utilities of separate categories of citizens (veterans, invalids and elderly persons). According to investigators, the woman and her subordinate made fictitious statements, which listed non-existent people; and then received money for them.
As reported by the MIA of the KChR, a criminal case under Part 4, Article 159, of the Russian Criminal Code (a large-scale fraud committed by an organized grouping) has been initiated against the woman and her chief accountant.
