Dagestan: rally in support of lawyer Musaev speaks against Islamophobia and Caucasophobia

Today, at the House of Journalists in Makhachkala, a rally took place in support of lawyer Murad Musaev, who became a defendant in two criminal cases. The action, coordinated with the authorities, was attended by about 200 people.

Abakar Abakarov, a member of the Supreme Council of the Russian Congress of Caucasian Nations, who conducted the rally, believes that the criminal cases pending against the lawyer were farfetched. On the question why the event was held in Dagestan, Abakarov said that "there is no matter about the nationality of the man who defended our rights and whom we want to support."

"We protest against the home policy, pursued against Muslims and Caucasians across the country. We declare that we are against Islamophobia and Caucasophobia," said Abakarov.

The participants adopted a resolution addressed to Muslims, peoples of the Caucasus and all citizens of Russia.

"We encourage people to defend their rights, demand the religious freedom, namely, construction of temples, and boycott the media, which use fascist rhetoric," the conductor read out.

At the end of the rally, Abakarov announced that organizers would hold a large-scale rally in Moscow against Caucasophobia and Islamophobia.
