MCC dismisses complaint of HRC "Memorial" against recognition of prosecutors' inspection legal

The Moscow City Court (MCC) has dismissed the appeal complaint lodged by the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" against the ruling of the Zamoskvoretskiy Court to dismiss the application that contested the actions of the Moscow Prosecutor's Office while inspecting the Centre.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the off-the-schedule inspection of the HRC "Memorial" was initiated on March 26 by the Moscow Prosecutor's Office with the assistance of the Ministry of Justice and Tax Inspectorate. Following the inspection, the Office demanded from the Centre to get registered as a foreign agent. On April 8, the HRC "Memorial" appealed against both the inspection as such, and the actions of the inspectors. On April 24, the court dismissed the application; then, the officials of the "Memorial" appealed against the ruling of the Zamoskvoretskiy Court.

Today, the court has treated all the actions of the Moscow Prosecutor's Office as legitimate; and all the claims of the HRC were rejected.

Let us remind you that the HRC "Memorial" found the conclusions of the Prosecutor's Office incorrect and filed a complaint to the Zamoskvoretskiy Court. The preliminary hearing on the case was postponed twice; now, it is scheduled for February 4, 2014.
