Mitrokhin: slogan "Stop nourishing Caucasus!" leads to destruction of Russia
The participants of the press conference held in Moscow on the problems of xenophobia and nationalism believe that the authorities are responsible for the growth of nationalistic sentiments in the society.
The press conference "Russia's unity is in citizens' solidarity – against xenophobia and nationalism" took place on October 31 in the Central Journalists' House in Moscow. Galina Mikhalyova, the Secretary of the Political Committee of the "Yabloko" Party and the initiator of the event, spoke about the growth of nationalistic moods in the society.
"One shouldn't calmly watch nationalists holding their 'Russian March' on November 4," Ms Mikhalyova is sure.
In the opinion of Sergey Mitrokhin, the Chairman of the "Yabloko" Party, who also spoke at the press conference, the responsibility for the growth of nationalistic sentiments in the society is both on the authorities and the opposition.
"A weird holiday was 'designed' for November 4. Every year [on this day] we see a 'coven of nationalism'. It is an annual systematic warming up of phobias that threaten Russia, because Russia is a multicultural country; and this is a direct undermining of our state. The responsibility for the growth of this threat is both on the authorities and the opposition. The slogan 'Stop nourishing the Caucasus!' means destruction of Russia," said Sergey Mitrokhin.
