Azerbaijani soldier falls prisoner on contact line with Armenian Armed Forces
On July 26, at 6:00 a.m., in the north-eastern section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, Firuz Farazov, born in 1992, an Azerbaijani soldier crossed the border and surrendered to the Armenian party, said the press service of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Armenia. The Azerbaijani party has confirmed the capture of the soldier.
On July 27, the MoD of Azerbaijan announced that "while in the Tovuz section of the army frontline, Firuz Farazov got lost and accidentally fell into captivity."
The spokesman of the Armenian MoD said that the soldier surrendered voluntarily.
"At 6:00 a.m. soldiers are either in bed or on duty, and usually don't err with a white flag in hand," Artsrun Ovannisyan, the press secretary of the MoD of Armenia, has commented the statement of the Azerbaijani counterpart.
