In Sochi, no noise-protection screens installed around Olympic construction, residents assert
The noise-protection screens around the Olympic construction in Sochi, which Vladimir Vasilenko, Deputy Chief Engineer of the Closed Joint-Stock Company (CJSC) "PRiSS" promised to install till July 26, have not been established yet. According to resident of the city, till present, no noise-protection screens are installed, despite the fact that the construction works are going on.
Residents of two apartment buildings, located in Young Leninists and Constitution Streets in Sochi complain about violation of their right to a healthy living environment and argue that the Construction Company CJSC "PRiSS" from Saint Petersburg continues the construction works of the Olympic facility under their windows after 11:00 p.m.
After the visit of the residents to the city administration, held on July 18, the special commission was established, and it met the city residents to discuss the situation.
"However, the noise continues to disturb us, and the construction works continue day and night. We contacted the workers and asked them, where the promised noise-protection screens were? They said that they knew nothing about them," said Svetlana Ozerova, a representative of the city residents.
At present, the noisiest plant does not work and there is no need to install the noise-protection screen. This was stated in his turn by Vladimir Vasilenko, Deputy Chief Engineer of the Construction Company "PRiSS".
"When the plant starts working, we will immediately fence it with boards, which will create a soundproof effect," he said.
The residents of the resort city believe that the authorities should oblige organizations to install noise-protection screens around construction sites.
Renat Aminov, the specialist-expert of the "Rospotrebnadzor" (Russian Federal Agency for Consumer Supervision), stated that the information about violation of allowable noise standards has already been sent to the "Rostekhnadzor" (Russian Federal Agency for Technical Supervision).
