Rasul Mirzaev asserts that he is not guilty of death of Moscow student

At the first hearing on the merits of Rasul Mirzaev's case, held today at the Zamoskvoretsky District Court, the prosecutor Yulia Zotova has announced the indictment, followed by questioning of the victims – Tatiana and Alexander Agafonov and their daughter Olga Agafonova.

The today's court session began with a half-hour delay and took place before a huge crowd of media people. No public was admitted due to lack of seats.

The judicial investigation began with the announcement of the indictment. Mirzaev was charged under Part 4, Article 111, of the Russian Criminal Code. The defendant refused to plead guilty and evidence during the judicial investigation, wishing to be questioned at the final stage of the process.

According to the indictment, "having special skills and knowledge of martial arts, the defendant applied his sports training and intentionally punched Ivan Agafonov," as a result of which the latter. Mirzaev did not foresee such consequences of his actions, which was taken into account by the investigation, the prosecutor Yulia Zotova read out the conclusion.

According to the mother of the casualty Tatiana Agafonova, when her son was still alive and in hospital, his friends received threats.

The court has listened to evidence of the sister and father of Ivan Agafonov and Vladimir Khrozov, a witness from the prosecution.

The judicial investigation was postponed until July 27, in connection with the need to summon other witnesses from the prosecution.
