Threats against Imam assassinated in Dagestan were unknown, locals say
Basir Salakhgereyev, 35, Imam at one of Khasavyurt city mosques, who was killed on November 1, was non-conflict person and had not received any threats. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent learnt about it from Idris Zagalov, a resident of Khasavyurt.
"Basir had no enemies; he was a remarkable person. He was neither Salafi nor Tariqa; Basir was an adherent of real Islam. Nobody had ever expressed any threats to him. His mosque is small; the parish counts several dozens of Muslims," said Idris Zagalov.
Earlier, the on duty unit of the Khasavyurt ROVD (District Interior Division) had reported that a criminal case was initiated after the incident under the articles of "murder" and "illegal arms circulation". As of today, there are no details about the investigation into the Imam's murder.
