New Georgian Constitution to be signed by Saakashvili
The amendments and additions to the Constitution, under which in 2013 the country will pass over to a new model of state governance, are pending official endorsement by President Mikhail Saakashvili.
So far, there was no Saakashvili's reaction to the presented Constitution draft; however, back on October 15, the Georgian President thanked the parliament for their prompt adoption of the final version of the Constitution.
"Our country - the first in the region - has received a really European-type constitution, very nicely balanced. This is positive for everyone, not for any particular person," Mr Saakashvili said in his interview to the French TV Channel "TV5 Monde".
Meanwhile, more than half of Georgian citizens (56 percent), as concluded by a survey, conducted from September 27 to October 7 by the US International Republic's Institute of the United States among 1500 residents of Georgia and promulgated on October 28, agree to Mikhail Saakashvili's becoming Prime Minister in 2013, the "Interfax" reports.
Members of Georgian opposition assert that the above public poll was ordered by President Saakashvili and his retinue and claim that such fabrications ratings "are aimed to habituate people to the idea that Mikhail Saakashvili's rule will be endless," the "Georgia Online" reports.
