Archangelsk vice-governor accused of misuse of money allocated for restoration of Tskhinval

A criminal case has been initiated against Sergei Molchanski, vice-governor of Archangelsk oblast. The functionary is suspected of abuse of power in spending the money allocated for repairing a school in South Ossetia.

Vladimir Markin, official SKP representative, claims that Molchanski is accused of more than 50 million rubles, collected by individuals and organizations for the financial and humanitarian assistance to the South Ossetia population, being lost, reports "Interfax" with reference to the SKP representative.

"His actions have resulted in a failure to fulfill the obligations on restoring the above secondary school, the reputation of the Archangelsk oblast authorities has been undermined", claims Markin.

Molchanski is vice-governor responsible for the infrastructure development, that is for construction, transport and communication. Recently, Nikolai Bespalov, former adviser of the functionary, has been sentenced for a big bribe. Businessman Andrei Syrtsev, found guilty of mediation in the case, has also been sentenced for eight year in prison. The third participant in the case, Sergei Akulov, employee of the oblast department of competitive policy, is now wanted by the law enforcement agencies, reports ZAKS.ru.

Sergei Molchanski demanded 1 million rubles from the supplier of logging equipment which was to be delivered to a vocational school of the region within the national project "Education". The money was tried to be laundered with the participation of a mediator company.
