Trial on claim of Dagestan resident to Zhirinovsky postponed for respondent's absence
On February 15, the court session of the Meschanskiy District Court of Moscow for considering the suit lodged by Shamil Sheikhov, a resident of Makhachkala, on protection of his honour, dignity and business reputation against Vladimir Zhirinovsky, Chairman of the LDPR (Liberal-Democratic Party of Russia) and Deputy of the State Duma, and against the editorial board of the newspaper "LDPR", did not take place because of the absence of the respondent. Shamil Sheikhov himself told about it to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
Mr Sheikhov said that the next court session was appointed on March 10.
The Dagestan regional branch of the LDPR has again refrained from any comments on Sheikhov's suit.
Let us remind you that last year the Board of Elders at the President of Dagestan addressed Chairman of the State Duma Boris Gryzlov with a request to discuss Zhirinovsky's statements, made in the paper article and found nationalistic by the elders. They also asked to make a legal evaluation of the statements and "henceforth suppress any statements aimed at provoking interethnic conflicts." At their sitting, elders gave numerous facts in support of patriotism of Dagestanians.
So far, the "Caucasian Knot" knows nothing about any consideration of the statement of Dagestan elders and whether any measures have been taken thereon.
